As Singaporeans, when we mention Marina Bay, it brings back a huge lot of memories. For myself, I remember back in those days Marina Bay was a leisure spot where I will hang out with friends feasting at the steamboat buffet restaurants and kite flying activities. Not forgetting the video gaming centre where I will pit my Daytona racing skills against my friends.
Today, Marina Bay has totally transformed into a whole new landscape with the integrated resort, Marina Bay Sands, iconic Singapore Flyer as well as Singapore’s most celebrated garden, Gardens by the Bay. Also, with the symbolic annual National Day celebrations at The Float and the annual Marina Bay Countdown when we party hard with friends, visiting Marina Bay has mean a lot more in my heart unlike any other place in Singapore.
To better tell the story of Marina Bay of the past till present, Urban Development Authority (URA) of Singapore has engaged a group of 20 AmBAYssaddors to showcase their collection of photos in this Loving Marina Bay campaign at Clifford Square from 3rd November for a month.
Here are some of the spectacular photos by lifestyle blogger Darren Ang and blogger/photographer Jerome Lim. Both of them are award-winning bloggers who share many insightful and interesting articles on their blogs!
Besides just showcasing photos taken by bloggers and photographers, some of them are involved in the Street Museum project where modern photos of Marina Bay are layered against the archive from the past.
Photographer Sze Ping whom took the photo of the boat docked at Boat Quay shared with me that it took him a lot of effort and patience to get the photo correct in the proper angle and position so to layer it above the archives. Taking a single of these photo would take hours. So imagine the other photos taken from a high angles, it wasn’t a simple task after all.
Kudos to all the bloggers and photographers of the Marina Bay AmBAYssadors for making this photo story boards of Marina Bay possible!
Don’t forget to visit Clifford Square from now till 3rd December to view the other photos on display and also take a photo of yourself against the backdrop of iconic landmarks!
Do check out what’s happening at Marina Bay in November over here!
